YOU CAN GET GREAT SOUNDING MIXES USING YOUR HEADPHONES

Mixing on headphones gets an unusually bad rap on sites like Gearslutz and other audio forums. I'm hear to tell you that you can get a more than decent mix on headphones.

 

Yes, not all headphones are created equally and no, I'm not advocating that you go mix your new single on earbuds. But I am saying you CAN get professional mixes on studio headphones.

 

I would even take it a step further and say if you have a really small room with no acoustic treatment, you very well may get BETTER mixes using headphones vs using your monitors.

A huge element of getting a mix right on headphone is to really know how the sound you hear coming out of them, translates to other listening environments. To learn this, all you need to do is put in some trial and error.
