Programming interesting and realistic drum fills isn’t the easiest thing to do, especially if you’re not a drummer. Thankfully, you don’t have to be able to come up with highly intricate syncopated rhythms to create a memorable fill. It’s more important to:

 

1.) Create emotional impact.

 

And 

 

2.) Use unique sounds.

 

To test out this idea, try taking a drum fill you’ve made or used in the past and recreate it, but instead of using conventional tom drums or other more commonly used samples for fills, replace them with weird and unique sounds. 

 

That’s basically what Grey have done and the results are amazing! 

 

Grey uses cinematic and foley based sounds in a lot of their drum fills coupled with creative processing to get a really unique sound. 

 

This is easier said than done. That’s why we made a ton of the most unique drum fills we’ve ever made in your Grey inspired pack, Grey Area V.1. 

 

But we wanted to take things a step further and make a tutorial to give you guys the knowledge to create Grey inspired drum fills!
